Punishments that can be appealed include:
- Time penalty added to race time.
- Application of penalty points.
- Series disqualification.
- The driver can provide additional context to their actions which may reduce the severity of the penalty applied.
The Stewards’ decision whether to uphold an appeal or dismiss an appeal is final and a driver cannot appeal the same incident again.
An appeal must be submitted within 24 hours after the publication of the official finishing results.
A valid appeal is subject to certain conditions. Appeals that do not include any of the following elements will be dismissed immediately:
• The driver has new evidence that reduces or eliminates their responsibility for an incident.
A driver who submits an excessive amount of invalid appeals over the course of the season may be subject to penalty.
Drivers are reminded of the spirit of fair competition and integrity when making appeals.
Should a driver be found to be falsifying information / evidence as part of an appeal, then the stewards reserve the right to issue a P05 / P06 penalty, dependent on the severity of the infringement.
